Andrew Irwin - Tenor - ©Andreea Tufescu 2 cropWe are delighted to welcome tenor Andrew Irwin to CPM. Originally from Northern Ireland, Andrew is completing his training at the  Hochschule für Musik und Theater Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Leipzig. He makes his Welsh National Opera début as Amelia’s Servant in David Pountney’s new production of Un Ballo in Maschera on February 9 with Carlo Rizzi conducting. He is also covering the role of Cecil Roberto Devereux for the company.

Harry Fehrshanghai-grand-theatre directs Falstaff for the Shanghai Opera House opening on September 15 at the Shanghai Grand Theatre. The production is double-cast with further performances on September 16 & 17. Conducting honours are shared between Lin Yongsheng and Antonio Pirolli with Pietro Spagoli and Zhang Feng as the eponymous Knight. More. The production was made possible at short notice by Caroline Phillips Management undertaking complex negotiations to provide the entire creative team.

Her assumption of the part of Dorotea, Lina’s cousin, was little short of magnificent. She clearly has a wide repertoire, as she has taken part in a staged setting for American Opera Theater  of Messiaen’s song cycle Harawi. Here she was fully in Verdian mode, making every phrase count. The overriding impression was that one wished Verdi had written more for Dorotea.” See and Heard International
