John Metcalfe’s Under Milk Wood – in which soprano Helen-Jane Howells created the roles of Gossamer Beynon, Lily Smalls and Mrs Pugh – was chosen as one of The Guardian’s Top Ten Operas of 2014. In addition, the work is a finalist in the World Premiere category of The Opera Awards 2015.
Soprano Helen-Jane Howells takes the roles of Gossamer Beynon, Lily Smalls and Mrs Pugh in the world premier of John Metcalfe’s opera Under Milk Wood. A co-production between Taliesin Arts Centre (Swansea), Le Chien qui Chante (Quebec) and Companion Star (New York) performances take place on April 3, 4, 5 – Swansea; 8 – Aberystwyth, 11 & 12 – Cardiff & 15 – Caernarfon.
