Harry FehrDirector Harry Fehr’s production of Orlando for Welsh National Opera has been nominated for a Wales Theatre Award in the ‘Best Opera Production’ category. The winner will be announced on January 30. The production, which originated with Scottish Opera, has received much critical acclaim – “Harry Fehr’s recent Orlando for Welsh National Opera picks up where David Alden and David McVicar left off at ENO, recasting Handel’s sorcery story as one of psychological trauma and war. This is Handel with a modern audience in mind: emotional, direct, confronting.” The Spectator.

Harry FehrDirector Harry Fehr  makes his Welsh National Opera début with Handel Orlando under the baton of Rinaldo Alessandrini. There are performances on September 27 (m), October 3 & 7 (Cardiff), October 14 (Southampton), 21 (Bristol), 28 (Llandudno), November 4 (Oxford), 18 (Birmingham). The cast includes Larry Zazzo, Rebecca Evans and Robin Blaze and the production is designed by Yannis Thavoris with lighting design by Anna Watson. Harry FehrHarry Fehr directs students of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in a production of The Cunning Little Vixen. The performances, conducted by David Jones, take place at the Sherman Theatre on July 7, 8 & 9.
