Harry Fehr : Finta in London

Harry FehrDirector Harry Fehr will stage La Finta Giardinera with students at the Royal College of Music on November 28, 30, December 2 & 3. The 2013 Buxton Festival production, on which it is based, was much praised: Harry Fehr’s Buxton staging makes a surprisingly strong case for this disregarded piece.” 5 stars The Guardian;  “… in this dazzling, bold and inventive production we have a novel modern setting under Harry Fehr’s direction … ” The Arts Desk. Michael Rosewell, Direcor of Opera at the RCM, conducts.

Harry Fehrshanghai-grand-theatre directs Falstaff for the Shanghai Opera House opening on September 15 at the Shanghai Grand Theatre. The production is double-cast with further performances on September 16 & 17. Conducting honours are shared between Lin Yongsheng and Antonio Pirolli with Pietro Spagoli and Zhang Feng as the eponymous Knight. More. The production was made possible at short notice by Caroline Phillips Management undertaking complex negotiations to provide the entire creative team.

Wigtastic HandelHarry Fehr’s new production of Handel Ariodante conducted by Nicholas Kraemer  for Scottish Opera opens at the Theatre Royal, Glasgow on February 16. There with further performances on February 18, 20 – Glasgow and February 24 & 27 –  Festival Theatre, Edinburgh. Yannis Thavoris designs this second Handel opera to a text by Ariosto that Harry has directed for the company, following the great success of Orlando.

Harry FehrDirector Harry Fehr’s production of Orlando for Welsh National Opera has been nominated for a Wales Theatre Award in the ‘Best Opera Production’ category. The winner will be announced on January 30. The production, which originated with Scottish Opera, has received much critical acclaim – “Harry Fehr’s recent Orlando for Welsh National Opera picks up where David Alden and David McVicar left off at ENO, recasting Handel’s sorcery story as one of psychological trauma and war. This is Handel with a modern audience in mind: emotional, direct, confronting.” The Spectator.

Harry FehrOpera director Harry Fehr has been nominated for a Manchester Theatre Award  2015 in the Best Opera category for his production of Cosi fan tutte  for Clonter Opera in July 2015. All will be revealed at the awards ceremony on March 4.

Harry Fehr - opera directorFollowing the recent success of Handel Orlando for Welsh National Opera (Guardian ****, The Times ****) director Harry Fehr jumps to the 19th century with a staging of Ambroise Thomas Mignon for New Sussex Opera. Conducted by Nicholas Jenkins the performances take place on November 11 (Lewes), 22 (Eastbourne) and 24 (London, Cadogan Hall).
