Photo: Marco BorggreveTenor Samuel Boden appears on a new recording of Messiah released today by Resonus Classics.  This world premiere recording of a new arrangement for wind ensemble by Stian Aareskjold features the Norwegian Wind Ensemble and the BBC Singers under David Hill.  Samuel returns to sing Messiah with the group at performances in Norway on December 6, 7 & 8.

Photo: Marco BorggreveAvailable on Iplayer until November 19 tenor Samuel Boden appears in the television broadcast of the Royal Opera’s production of George Benjamin’s Lessons in love and Violence on BBC 4.  Later this season he reprises the roles of Boy and Young King in the work for the Staatsoper Hamburg and Opéra de Lyon.

With the composer conducting, the performances are scheduled for June 25, 27, 29, July 1, 3 & 5 at the Nationale Opera, Amsterdam. As well as some Fauré and Britten performed live in the studio listeners can hear his recording of the Charpentier Seconde leçon de Ténèbres du Mercredi saint with Arcangelo directed by Jonathan Cohen  to be released by Hyperion Records.

Photo: Marco BorggreveHaving sung the title role of L’Ormindo at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse and Telemaco Il Ritorno d’Ulisse at The Roundhouse for the company tenor Samuel Boden will make his Royal Opera House main stage début on May 10 when he creates the roles of Boy and Young King in George Benjamin and Martin Crimp’s new opera  Lessons in love and Violence. The production by Katie Mitchell will be conducted by the composer with further performances at Covent Garden on May 12, 15, 18, 24 & 26 before being staged as part of the Holland Festival on June 25, 27, 29, July 1, 3 & 5.

Tenor Samuel Boden will create a role in George Benjamin and Martin Crimp’s next opera, Lessons in Love and Violence at The Royal Opera House Covent Garden. The World Premiere takes place in May 2018 in a production by Katie Mitchell, conducted by the composer. More about the new work.

Tenor Samuel Boden sings Britten Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings with Johannes Hinterholzer, horn, and the Salzburg Camerata under Teodor Currentzis. The performances on October 7 and 9 (am) open the season at the Mozarteum, Salzburg.

Tenor Samuel Boden will take part in the event to commemorate the centenary of the Battle of the Somme on July 1 at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Thiepvel Memorial in Northern France. He will perform alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra and The Band of the Welsh Guards amongst others with the event being broadcast live on BBC One. 10,000 people are expected to attend including the Prince of Wales, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, David Cameron and European and Commonwealth heads of state. Sam will also be performing Butterworth The Lads in their Hundreds at the Military Vigil the evening before which will be broadcast live on BBC Two. http://somme2016.org/.
