In the latest of the acclaimed Bach cantata series Steven Devine directs the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment from an empty King’s Place, London with a programme including BWV 39 Brich dem Hungrigen dein Brot. He is joined by Rising Stars of the Enlightenment mezzo Bethany Horak-Hallet singing the aria Seinem Schöpfer noch auf Erden and soprano Zoë Brookshaw singing Höchster, was ich habe. Devine also plays and directs works by Pachelbel and Telemann.

Steven Devine joins CPM

Steven Devine - conductor © Ian Davies 1We are delighted to welcome conductor and keyboard player Steven Devine to the CPM family of artists for General Management.

A highly-regarded musician of great versatility Devine is Conductor & Artistic Advisor of The English Haydn Festival; Music Director of New Chamber Opera, Oxford; Director of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment series Bach the Universe & Everything; Artistic Advisor to the York Early Music Festival and Principal Keyboard of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. He is also a founding member of the innovative electronic music group Art of Moog.

Significant forthcoming appearances include conducting Purcell, Blow & Britten with the OAE and tenor Ian Bostridge; Haydn and JC Bach at the English Haydn Festival and Galuppi La Diavolessa with New Chamber Opera.

At the harpsichord he plays Bach Goldberg Variations at King’s Place, London;  Bach Das Wohltemperierte Klavier at the York Early Music Festival and as fortepiano soloist he will perform Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 1 with the English Haydn Orchestra and next season joins the OAE for Mozart Piano Concerto No.23.
