Polly Graham directs Robin Hood with Nicholas Merryweather in the title role

Robin HoodDirector Polly Graham stages the world premiere of Robin Hood by emerging composer Dani Howard for The Opera Story with baritone Nicholas Merryweather creating the title role. Opening on February 27 at the Bussey Building, a former cricket bat factory, in Peckham, London, the production is conducted by Berrak Dyer with designs by April Dalton. Howden, Smith and Merryweather go to the ball

There are performances on July 20 & 21 – Bampton, Oxfordshire; August 27 – Westonbirt, Gloucestershire & September 18 – St John’s Smith Square, London with Harry Sever conducting Jeremy Gray’s production.

Bradley Smith & Nicholas Merryweather at Buxton Festival

Benjamin_Britten_in a boatBoth making their festival debuts Bradley Smith sings the title role of Albert Herring and Nicholas Merryweather, Mr Gedge. Francis Matthews’ production is conducted by Justin Doyle with performances on July 8, 12, 15, 19 & 22 at the Buxton International Festival.

 

Fehr directs and Merryweather sings in a tale for our times

Alex Brenner,Nicholas Merryweather, baritoneHarry Fehr directs the modern day première of Henry Fielding’s ballad opera The Lottery (1732) for Bury Court Opera with baritone Nicholas Merryweather taking the role of Mr Stocks. The original score by Mr Seedo has been reconstructed by Zak Osmo who conducts L’Avventura London. Performances at Bury Court, Near Farnham are on February 28 and March 2.

Nick Merryweather tours with ETO’s baroque operas from Venice

Nicholas MerryweatherBaritone Nicholas Merryweather sings Pallante in English Touring Opera’s new production of Handel’s Agrippina. Staged by James Conway, the performances are conducted by Jonathan Peter Kenny. Nick also appears as Liberto in The Coronation of Poppea with the company as well as featuring in the Music for Vespers concerts as part of the Baroque Opera from Venice season.
