Director Harry Fehr’s production of Orlando for Welsh National Opera has been nominated for a Wales Theatre Award in the ‘Best Opera Production’ category. The winner will be announced on January 30. The production, which originated with Scottish Opera, has received much critical acclaim – “Harry Fehr’s recent Orlando for Welsh National Opera picks up where David Alden and David McVicar left off at ENO, recasting Handel’s sorcery story as one of psychological trauma and war. This is Handel with a modern audience in mind: emotional, direct, confronting.” The Spectator.
