Tenor Samuel Boden will make his début with the Nederlandse Reisopera singing Orphée in Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice directed by Floris Visser and conducted by Roger Hamilton. The show opens on May 1 and tours throughout The Netherlands until June 6.
Baritone Dietrich Henschel brings his unique interpretation of Mahler Das Knaben Wunderhorn to the Barbican on April 15. Collaborating with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Alexander Vedernikov in Detlev Glanert’s orchestration he will be both starring in Clara Pons’ film version as well as performing the song cycle on stage. Conductor Nicholas Kraemer appears on BBC Radio 3 In Tune as Sean Rafferty’s guest on Monday April 6. Having recently turned 70, Nicholas will be discussing the stylistic developments he has witnessed over his long career. He will also preview his forthcoming concert with the English Chamber Orchestra on April 14 at Cadogan Hall, London when he will be joined by pianist Imogen Copper and soprano Mary Bevan for a programme of Bach, Handel and Mozart.
