Tenor Rupert Charlesworth sings the roles of Angel 3 and John in George Benjamin’s widely acclaimed opera Written on Skin. Performances on May 22 & 23 with the Gulbenkian Orchestra are conducted by Gerry Cornelius, replacing the composer who is unwell.

Movement director Sarah Fahie’s work will be on display in Richard Jones’ new production of Der Rosenkavalier at Glyndebourne. Opening on May 17, there are further performances on May 21, 24, 29, June 1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, 26 & July 3. Robin Ticciati conducts and the production will be broadcast live in cinemas on June 8 and will be streamed on the Telegraph website at the same time.
Robert Howarth Opernhaus Zurich debut

Conductor Robert Howarth will make his Opernhaus Zurich début conducting Monteverdi’s Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria. He takes over at short notice for the production by Willy Decker with an all-star cast that includes Kurt Streit and Sara Mingardo. Performances on May 17, 21, 23, 28, 30, June 1, 5, 7, 11 & 14.
