Movement director Sarah Fahie‘s first project for English National Opera is Handel’s Rodelinda directed by long-time collaborator Richard Jones. The production opens on February 28 with further performances on March 2 (m), 4, 6, 8, 11, 13 & 15, 2014.
Harry Fehr directs the modern day première of Henry Fielding’s ballad opera The Lottery (1732) for Bury Court Opera with baritone Nicholas Merryweather taking the role of Mr Stocks. The original score by Mr Seedo has been reconstructed by Zak Osmo who conducts L’Avventura London. Performances at Bury Court, Near Farnham are on February 28 and March 2.
Newly-signed Mezzo soprano Sarah Champion will appear on BBC Radio 3’s In Tune previewing Pop Up Opera’s production of Bizet’s Dr Miracle in which she takes the role of Véronique. Opening on March 4 at The Bull, Highgate, North London the show tours the UK until May 3.
Purcell specialist Helen-Jane Howells sings The Fairy Queen in a new production by Julia Burbach in the charming rural setting of Bury Court Opera. Simon Over conducts The South Bank Sinfonia. Performances February 22, 26 & March 1.
