Recently signed baritone Nicholas Merryweather takes the role of Atlante in a rare production of Agostino Steffani’s 1691 opera Orlando Generoso with performances at The Barber Institute, Birmingham from September 27. Fast forwarding 300 years, he joins English Touring Opera as Blazes in Peter Maxwell Davies’ The Lighthouse (1980) at The Linbury Studio, Covent Garden from October 11 then on tour  – details

Facing Africa raises funds to assemble teams of top facial reconstruction surgeons who travel to Africa to rebuild the pitifully disfigured faces of children suffering from the Noma disease. The Noma infection mainly takes hold in those under the age of six caught in extreme poverty and who suffer from chronic malnutrition.
