Joan was inspired casting as the eccentric surrealist as he holds a degree History of Art and Music from the University of. The production can be seen at the Liceu, Barcelona this autumn.

Catalan baritone Joan Martin-Royo will make his UK opera début singing Dandini in the ever-popular Peter Hall production of La Cenerentola for Glyndebourne on Tour conducted by Enrique Mazzola: 
October 10, 14, 19, 24, 27, 30 - Glyndebourne; November 3, 6 - New Victoria Theatre, Woking; November 10, 13 – Milton Keynes Theatre, Milton Keynes; November 17, 20 - Theatre, Royal, Norwich; November 24, 27 -  Theatre Royal, Plymouth; December 1 - Regent Theatre, Stoke on Trent.

Joan Martín-Royo will be appearing at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in two great Mozart works singing the title role in Le Nozze di Figaro  on May 25, 28 & 29 and Guglielmo in Così fan Tutte on June 2, 3 & 5. Both productions are by Pierre Constant with Jean-Claude Malgoire conducting Le Grand Ecurie et la Chambre du Roy.
